Talking to your children about violence
In light of recent tragic events in Connecticut at an elementary school, students may have some questions about violence in schools and how to stay safe. It is difficult to anticipate the extent to which the events in Connecticut will be on the minds of our students as they return to school on Monday. As always, we take our lead from the questions that students bring forward. Staff are encouraged to discuss and reinforce the ways in which all members of the school community work to keep the school a safe place for thos students wishing to talk about it.Click HERE to view a documents that offers some help in discussing violent events with your children. At the Annual General Meeting of the South Shore Regional School Board, Superintendent Nancy Pynch-Worthylake delivered her annual report. The new South Shore Regional School Board is made up almost entirely of new Board Members with the exception of Elliott Payzant in District 1 (Queens County).
The Governing Board Members are:

- Cheryl Fougere, District 3
- Jennifer Naugler, District 4
- Elmer Garber, District 5
- Theresa Griffin, District 6
- Vernon Simms, African Nova Scotian Representative
The new Governing School Board will be sworn in at the Annual General Meeting on November 14th at 7:00pm. The Minister of Education will announce the First Nations Candidate soon.
